The Ranucci attackers remain in prison
Rome – Attack on Sigfrido Ranucci: The Rome Court of Review has confirmed the four precautionary measures and the aggravating circumstance of mafia methods for the four accused of being the perpetrators of the attack on Report host Sigfrido Ranucci, which occurred on October 16, 2025. Three of them remain in prison, while the woman is under house arrest.
Their lawyers had requested the cancellation of the pre-trial detention and a review of the accusation of criminal association with the aggravating circumstance of mafia methods.
As part of the investigation by the Rome prosecutor's office, coordinated by Public Prosecutor Edoardo De Santis, and entrusted to the Carabinieri investigative unit, Pellegrino D'Avino, Antonio Passariello, and Saverio Mutone are in prison, while Marika De Filippis is under house arrest. All four are charged with various counts of possession, carrying in a public place, and use of an explosive device, threats, and criminal damage, aggravated by mafia methods.
The four people accused of carrying out the attack on Sigfrido Ranucci all reside between the province of Naples and the Avellino area. Their precautionary measures were executed on June 30th. D'Avino is one of those arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the attack on the Report host's home.
The four suspects being examined by the Court of Appeal are considered the perpetrators of the bomb placed in front of the RAI host's home in Pomezia. According to the Prosecutor's Office, the crime was commissioned by businessman Valter Lavitola and paid between €5 and €10. Through his associate, Gomes Clesio Tavares, Lavitola allegedly hired the group, the alleged "Banda."
The rejection of the requests by the judges of the Rome Review Court is positive news for the Prosecutor's Office, which is continuing its investigation to discover the motive for the attack and is conducting further investigations into the alleged instigator, Valter Lavitola, who was investigated and searched in early July while he was about to join his factotum, Gomes Clesio Tavares, in Cameroon.
