Aversa, they lived in a school building and stole electricity: two reports

Aversa – For over a decade, they operated appliances, turned on lights, and turned on heating by illegally tapping into a school's electricity grid. A silent and sustained theft, interrupted only by a joint operation by the Caserta Provincial Police and Enel technicians, which led to two men being charged.

The investigation began as part of checks to ensure the legality of the occupancy of the caretaker's quarters, located just meters from the Mattei Institute. Upon entering the building, officers led by Commander Biagio Chiariello discovered that the two occupants lacked any authorization. But it was during the technical inspection that the real anomaly emerged: an ingenious and illegal system of flying cables, hidden to connect directly to the school's utility meter.

For years, the school paid the bills for the stolen energy, resulting in financial losses that accumulated over a decade. Following investigations, the two men were charged with aggravated electricity theft.

Enel technicians intervened immediately to cut the illegal cables, remove the tampered meter, and secure the entire system, restoring regular power supply. This operation is part of a broader effort by the Caserta Provincial Police to combat illegal occupations and widespread illegality in the area.
