Traiano District: Car thief caught outside home and stabbed

Naples – He looked out the window around midnight to get some fresh air, but his attention was immediately caught by a suspicious scene: a man was fiddling with his Citroen C3, legally parked on the street. It took only a moment for EB, a 49-year-old man with no criminal record from the Traiano district, to realize what was happening. Yelling "thief!", he rushed down the stairs in an attempt to save his car. His lightning-fast reaction surprised the criminal, but it ended in tragedy.

The attack and the rescue

Arriving on Via Lattanzio before the suspect could flee, the 49-year-old encountered a violent reaction. The cornered attacker pulled a pocketknife from his pocket and confronted the man, stabbing him in the left arm.

After committing the attack, the thief fled on foot through the surrounding streets, disappearing into the darkness. The alarm was raised immediately by some local residents who came out to provide assistance after hearing the screams. Emergency medical services arrived on the scene and transported the injured man to San Paolo Hospital. Fortunately, the stab wound did not damage any vital organs or nerve endings. The 49-year-old was discharged with a prognosis of twenty days.

Hunt for the culprit

The Carabinieri of the local station are investigating the incident, alerted by calls to 112 and a report from the hospital. However, the investigation promises to be complex: the area lacks video surveillance, and the victim herself, due to the darkness and the shock of the gun being pointed at her, was unable to provide any useful details for a precise identikit.

The main trail would lead to petty crime in the Flegrean area, particularly individuals operating in the Soccavo and Rione Traiano neighborhoods. Investigators are confident they can track down the perpetrator, who could face serious charges: attempted murder has not been ruled out, given the proximity of the shot to the heart.
