The Uil Fp and Fp Cgil unions are reacting to the announcement of the suspension of scheduled hospitalizations in accredited private hospitals in Campania, calling for an institutional meeting with the Region.

Campania's private healthcare system: unions declare a state of unrest against the ban on hospital admissions.
Private healthcare unions in Campania have declared a state of unrest in response to the Italian Private Hospital Association (AIOP)'s announcement that it will suspend scheduled hospitalizations starting September 16. AIOP's decision, announced on August 4, concerns the reduction of redundant staff costs and the suspension of hospitalizations in accredited private hospitals.
Uil Fp, together with Fp Cgil, has warned Aiop against adopting unilateral actions such as blocking hospital admissions or reducing employment, considering them unacceptable instruments of pressure.
The unions blame the problem on the continued silence of regional institutions, which have yet to clearly define resource planning for private healthcare, including care needs and payment schedules. In a letter addressed to the President of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico, the President of the Regional Council, Massimiliano Manfredi, the Director General of Health, Ugo Prama, and other bodies, the Uil Fp requested the opening of an institutional forum to discuss healthcare planning, rates, and essential levels of care (LEA), as well as the protection of contractual rights and wages for workers at AIOP-member nursing homes.
According to Vincenzo Torino, general secretary of the Uil Fp Naples and Campania, it is unacceptable that private healthcare workers are being used as a tool for blackmail in economic conflicts between healthcare facilities and the Region. Torino also emphasized that employees are already penalized by salary delays, attributed to pending public administration cases. He therefore calls on the Region to move beyond exclusive dialogue with employers and to engage in inclusive dialogue with the unions to find shared solutions.
