The Ministry of Health is maintaining its red alert, warning of weather conditions that may pose a health risk, especially for the elderly, children, and vulnerable individuals.

High temperatures and mugginess

In the capital, the sky will be clear or partly cloudy throughout the day. Temperatures will range from 26 degrees in the early morning to 36 degrees in the middle of the day, but the perceived temperature could reach 39 degrees due to high humidity. The sea will generally be calm, with light breezes.

The sun reigns throughout Campania

Conditions will be similar across the rest of the region. In the inland areas of the provinces of Caserta, Benevento, and Avellino, temperatures may locally exceed 37-38 degrees Celsius, while along the coasts, the sea will only partially mitigate the heat. In the main tourist areas of Cilento, the Amalfi Coast, and the Sorrento Peninsula, the weather will remain stable and sunny, ideal for beach activities, but with particularly high levels of heat in the afternoon.

The heat wave doesn't stop

According to the latest weather updates, the severe heat wave affecting Southern Italy is expected to continue for several more days. Temperatures will remain well above seasonal averages at least until the week of August 15th, when a gradual change with slightly decreasing temperatures could emerge.

The recommendations

Health authorities urge the public to limit sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and pay particular attention to the most vulnerable. Pets should also be protected from the heat by providing them with fresh water and shade.
