Naples, a 200-mile-per-hour car rams into Carabinieri: A Panda overturns, two young men arrested.

A long, high-speed chase transformed the Qualiano night into a movie set. A small car, a Fiat Panda, carrying two young people, was speeding along the Circumvallazione Esterna when it encountered a routine check by Carabinieri officers from the Giugliano in Campania Mobile Radio Unit.

When ordered to stop by the police, the driver chose to press the accelerator, starting a dangerous race against time that stretched for more than five kilometers through the city streets.

The ramming and the accident

In a desperate attempt to outrun the police, the Panda didn't limit itself to evasive maneuvers, even directly ramming the Carabinieri vehicle. Despite the impact, the Carabinieri managed to maintain control of the vehicle and continue their pursuit.

The stampede ended abruptly on Via Giovanni Falcone: the driver lost control of the vehicle, violently impacting the sidewalk. The car overturned, crashing into a fence surrounding a farm.

The arrest and charges

Despite the accident, the occupants managed to escape the vehicle and continue their escape on foot. Officers chased them and apprehended them a few meters away. Two local men, aged 19 and 20, Raffaele Lucca and Gaetano Cerullo, both known to law enforcement, were arrested. The two young men now face charges of resisting a public officer, dangerous flight, and criminal damage, and are awaiting sentencing.
