The defeat against Como isn't just hurting Napoli's league standings. Maradona's misstep is also affecting the odds for the Scudetto, with Massimiliano Allegri's Azzurri seeing their valuations significantly increase with bookmakers.
According to the Snai odds board, Napoli's title chances have dropped from 6,00 to 10,00 following their home defeat against Cesc Fabregas's side. This drop drops the Neapolitans to fifth place among the main contenders for the title.
Ahead of Napoli is Como, offered at 12,00, while Inter remains at the top. The Nerazzurri, with a perfect record after the first two matchdays, are offered at 2,00 and maintain a significant lead over the other contenders.
The second strongest team on the board is Roma, with the Giallorossi title at 6,50. Close behind is Juventus, also on 6 points after two rounds, offered at 7,00. Amorim's AC Milan, fresh from two wins, is instead offered at 7,50.
The odds market, therefore, paints a different picture than just a few days ago: Napoli remains among the teams accredited for the title, but the defeat against Como has dampened initial expectations. These are, of course, bookmaker assessments and not a prediction of the final league result.
For Allegri and his team, the next match will already be a tough test: the Azzurri will be expected by Inter at the Meazza, in a match that could provide important information after the surprising home misstep.
