The square of San Giuseppe Vesuviano
Tense moments erupted late yesterday evening in San Giuseppe Vesuviano, where a 23-year-old man was seriously injured following a stabbing attack.
The alarm was raised around 10:50 PM, when the Carabinieri of the local station, alerted by the single emergency number 112, intervened at the Santa Lucia clinic, where a young man with a knife wound had been taken.
The victim is a 23-year-old Bangladeshi national, resident in San Giuseppe Vesuviano. His condition immediately appeared critical: the stab wound punctured his lung.
After initial treatment, the 118 staff arranged for him to be transferred to the Nola hospital, but the worsening of his clinical condition necessitated a subsequent emergency transfer to the Ospedale del Mare in Naples, where the young man was entrusted to the care of paramedics.
According to investigators' initial reconstruction, the stabbing occurred in Piazza Elena d'Aosta. The Carabinieri immediately launched an investigation, gathering testimonies from several of the victim's friends who were present at the time.
The motive remains unclear at this time. Investigators are working to reconstruct the exact sequence of events and identify the perpetrator.
Among the leads being examined by the Carabinieri is that of an incident that arose within the Bangladeshi community in the area. However, this is an investigative hypothesis still being explored and all necessary investigations are underway.
Investigations are continuing to shed full light on the attack and identify the perpetrator of the injury.
