Tensions over the Campi Flegrei are growing increasingly palpable, and the center-right in Campania is launching an urgent appeal to the highest regional authorities. All opposition councilors have submitted an official request to the President of the Campania Regional Council, Massimiliano Manfredi, to convene an extraordinary Regional Council meeting to address the volcanic emergency.

The initiative was led by opposition leader Gennaro Sangiuliano, along with group leaders Massimo Pelliccia and Raffaele Pisacane, with the support of the League represented by Micaela Rostan and Sebastiano Odierna.

At the heart of the request is a call on President Roberto Fico to declare a state of emergency. This measure, according to the signatories, is essential to allow for the adoption of extraordinary civil protection ordinances, as provided for by Article 25 of the Civil Protection Code, which would allow for rapid interventions and regulatory exemptions necessary to address the critical situation.

"The adoption of a state of emergency is not just a technical measure, but an act of fundamental political responsibility," Sangiuliano, Pelliccia, Pisacane, Rostan, and Odierna jointly declared. "We trust in President Manfredi's sensitivity, certain that he will convene the Regional Council very quickly. We are all called upon to respond promptly and seriously to this emergency that affects the region and the safety of thousands of citizens."
