The Pellegrini hospital where the injured man is hospitalized
Naples – A Sunday afternoon marked by violence near the historic center. A violent brawl erupted between about ten people in the Porta Capuana area, resulting in a man being stabbed in the back of the head and now in critical condition in the hospital.
The alarm was raised around late afternoon today, Sunday, August 9th, when several reports reached the police dispatcher of a major clash between foreigners near the historic city gate. When patrols arrived on the scene, however, there was no trace of the group: the participants had already dispersed into the surrounding streets.
Confirming the seriousness of the incident were the testimonies of residents and the immediate discovery of the victim, not far from the scene of the brawl. The man, visibly bleeding and without identification documents—a detail suggesting he was of North African origin—was struck by a deep blow to the base of the head.
Rescued by 118 paramedics, the injured man was rushed to the emergency room of the Vecchio Pellegrini hospital. His condition immediately appeared critical: doctors admitted him with a guarded prognosis.
The State Police is now investigating the incident , gathering evidence to identify the victim and reconstruct the motives for the attack, including by analyzing images from video surveillance cameras in the area.
