Campi Flegrei, the mayor of Bacoli: "Decrees issued only after the tremors? Prevention is needed."

Bacoli Mayor Josi Della Ragione criticizes the emergency management of the Campi Flegrei and calls for preventive measures to secure the slopes, particularly those still awaiting work despite the allocated funds.

Naples – "We can no longer afford to adopt decrees only after earthquakes. A prevention-based approach is essential." With these words, the mayor of Bacoli, Josi Della Ragione, made a strong appeal at the end of the meeting at the Prefecture dedicated to the situation in the Campi Flegrei, chaired by Interior Minister Piantedosi.

One of the most pressing issues concerns the safety of the slopes, an issue that unfortunately is not yet included in the current decrees. However, the mayor reported having received assurances from the minister that this measure would be included soon, expressing his hope that this would happen without having to wait for the lengthy parliamentary process, which could extend well into August.

Della Ragione emphasized that concrete action on this front has been awaited for three years. Despite €11 million having been allocated, work has yet to begin. "It's not just a question of resources, but above all of spending capacity: in three years, very little has been achieved compared to what was promised," the mayor emphasized, emphasizing the need to expedite procedures to ensure the safety of the population and the surrounding area.
