He was caught allegedly selling drugs for money in the heart of Naples. It happened yesterday afternoon in Piazza Capuana, where officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station arrested a 45-year-old man with a criminal record, including specific convictions, on charges of unlawful possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The police officers were carrying out checks in the area when, passing near Porta Capuana, they noticed the man handing something to another person in exchange for money.
Officers intervened immediately to stop the alleged sale and arrested both individuals. The 45-year-old was found in possession of two packages containing, according to the charges, cocaine/crack.
The other person was also stopped and subjected to a search. Officers found him in possession of the dose he had just purchased.
Following the investigation, the 45-year-old was arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities. The buyer, however, was fined for illegal possession of narcotics for personal use.
The case is now under judicial review and, as required by law, the suspect is to be considered not guilty until a final sentence is issued.
