Finance Police from the Caserta Provincial Command located and seized a large cannabis plantation on agricultural land located in a remote area, far from major roads. The operation is part of territorial control efforts aimed at combating illicit trafficking and was conducted under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
The investigations led to the discovery of a man busy watering and tending to the plants. The plants were cleverly concealed and camouflaged among cover crops, immersed in an area surrounded by olive groves.
The intervention of the Guardia di Finanza led to the discovery of seventeen cannabis plants, each between two and three meters tall and weighing approximately 100 kilograms. The entire quantity was immediately removed and seized.
By order of the Judicial Authority, the man was arrested on serious suspicion of the crime of illicit cultivation of narcotics (Article 73 of Presidential Decree 309/1990). The restraining order was subsequently validated by the Preliminary Investigations Judge, who ordered the suspect to report to the judicial police as a precautionary measure.
The entire judicial matter is currently in the preliminary investigation phase. As specified by the Prosecutor's Office, the suspect is presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued, and the precautionary measure was adopted in a context of adversarial proceedings limited to this procedural phase, leaving the third-party judge's assessment of the absence of liability unprejudiced.
