A wolf was hit and killed in Cilento, and the animal was found dead on the road between Gioi and Omignano.

A young female wolf was struck and killed on the road between Gioi and Omignano, in Cilento. The carcass of the female Apennine wolf, belonging to the species Canis lupus italicus, was spotted by several motorists on the side of the road.

The report was also made to prevent potential traffic hazards. Volunteers from the Italian Forestry Guard of Salerno responded to the scene, securing the area and alerting the relevant authorities.

The Carabinieri Forestali were involved in the investigations, while the Salerno Local Health Authority was involved for veterinary aspects.

The Municipality of Gioi was also involved in the operations, called upon to carry out the necessary interventions for the removal of the carcass.

The episode draws attention to the presence of wildlife along the roads of Cilento and the risks associated with animals crossing them.
