The international documentary film about Alberto Sordi's private life arrives in Italy on Prime Video, after a season of theatrical screenings and appearances abroad. Directed and written by Igor Righetti, the film is available on the platform and is included in Prime Video catalogs in the US, New Zealand, Australia, China, and the UK.

The project's arrival was announced in a presentation held in the Chamber of Deputies' Parliamentary Groups Hall, promoted by the Chairman of the Culture Committee, the Honorable Federico Mollicone, and opened by the Chamber's Quaestor, Paolo Trancassini. The screening was attended by Fioretta Mari, Maurizio Mattioli, Lorenzo Castelluccio, Emily Shaqiri, and Moira De Rossi, among others, along with numerous contributors and testimonials related to the documentary. Dozens of journalists and 150 influencers invited by Loro Comunicazione were also present.

"Alberto Sordi," said Federico Mollicone during the presentation, "has captured the transformations of our society, becoming a subtle interpreter of national customs and managing to navigate our deepest contradictions. It is precisely in this direction that Igor Righetti's work finds its true strength."

“In the documentary nothing is fiction, a product of fantasy: I draw on memories experienced first-hand and those passed down by my father Alessandro and my grandfather Primo, Alberto's uncle, through episodes of family life experienced together with him.”

Righetti also explained that, with its arrival on Prime Video Italy, "Alberto Sordi Secret" takes another step forward in its international reach, offering a different perspective on the man behind the actor's mask and his art. The 90-minute documentary is produced by Massimiliano Filippini and CameraWorks, with cinematography by Gianni Mammolotti, music by Maria Sicari, and costumes by Stefano Giovani.

"We didn't ask for any public funding to make the documentary," said producer Massimiliano Filippini, "but we relied on private sponsors." Project partners include the Colosseum Archaeological Park, the Ostia Antica Archaeological Park, the Secretariat of State for Tourism of the Republic of San Marino (represented by Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amati), the Municipality of Narni, the Municipality of Sgurgola, the Cultural Heritage of the Diocese of Terni Narni Amelia, Pasta Armando, Atim – Agency for Tourism and Internationalization of the Marche, Artemisia Lab, BackLight Digital, ElsaBeauty-Firenze, Gruppo Recchia, Relais Marchese del Grillo (Fabriano), and the La Cura di Enrico Corsi winery.

The project was inspired by the book of the same name, Alberto Sordi segreto (hidden loves, obsessions, regrets, and slander) by Igor Righetti, published by Rubbettino with a preface by Gianni Canova and now in its twelfth printing. The film, also produced in English and Spanish, was inspired by the explicit requests of Alberto Sordi, who preferred not to make his private life public but wanted to be remembered in the future.

The story features locations never before seen by the public, including the villa in Castiglioncello, the Marchese del Grillo estate in Fabriano, and his mother's birthplace in Sgurgola, as well as the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica, Narni, and the Republic of San Marino. Interventions by Sordi's friends and acquaintances are inserted into a narrative with a journalistic rhythm, accompanied by the narrative voice of Dado Coletti and archive materials from the Istituto Luce.

A memory for the new generations

The documentary film aims to offer a useful memorial to new generations, offering a glimpse into the man behind his public persona. Alberto Sordi remains a point of reference not only in Italy but also abroad, with retrospectives and awards that have accompanied his career. The final soundtrack features the song "Alberto nostro," written and performed by Igor Righetti and Samuele Socci, with an arrangement by Phil Bianchi.
