Carbonaro trial: A mother's grief and anger in court: "Alessio was calm; he made coffee for the Carabinieri."

Naples – A story steeped in suffering, punctuated by pauses, tears, and understandable tension. Before the judges of the Second Section of the Naples Assize Court, Vincenza Cossentino recounted the tragedy of the murder of her daughter, fourteen-year-old Martina Carbonaro, murdered in Afragola on May 26, 2025. In the dock is her nineteen-year-old ex-boyfriend, Alessio Tucci.

The woman's testimony reconstructed not only the girl's last hours of life, but above all the young man's disconcerting conduct in the moments immediately following the crime.

The trap and the imposture during the research

Particularly touching and detailed was the passage relating to the days of the search, when Tucci, already responsible for the girl's death, joined the victim's family, feigning concern.
"He was calm, as if nothing had happened. He even made coffee for the Carabinieri," his mother said in court, recalling the moment the officers returned to the house for their investigation.

At crucial moments of her disappearance, the nineteen-year-old allegedly misled her parents by providing false leads and claiming that the girl had left with a stranger on a scooter. Over the next two days, Tucci continued to actively participate in the search, even accompanied by his father.

The last phone call and darkness at 8:20 PM

Reconstructing the afternoon of May 26th, the mother recalled that Martina had gone out with the intention of going to a yogurt shop with a friend. At 19 pm, the first routine phone call for dinner:
“She said, ‘I’m coming.’ I asked her if she was with Alessio, but she said no.”

The communications continued until 20.20pm, when the sudden interruption occurred:
“It felt like someone was snatching the phone out of her hand.”

From that moment on, the fourteen-year-old's cell phone rang in vain until 8:25 pm, before turning off completely.

The background to the relationship and the tension in the courtroom

The witness's statement also touched on the months leading up to the murder and the breakdown of their relationship, which began in 2023. She recounted a confrontation that occurred shortly before the tragedy, sparked by Tucci's mother, who insinuated that the girl was associating with other young men. On that occasion, the fourteen-year-old defended herself by telling her mother:
“Believe him and not me.”

Asked by the Public Prosecutor to clarify some inconsistencies between the initial summary information provided shortly before the events and the statements made today in the trial, the woman reacted bitterly:
«Here it seems that the executioner, who is him, has become me.»

"Treated like a son: he took away our wings"

The hearing ended in tears and with a demand for a truth that only the defendant can provide.
"Martina was as beautiful as the sun, she was full of life. My husband and I haven't lived together for fifteen months. I can't believe my daughter isn't here, I can't believe it. I've lost my parents, she was my strength," her mother vented.

Turning his gaze towards the accused, Cossentino concluded with words of profound condemnation:
"I'd like to know from Tucci what my daughter's last words were and why he killed her. I treated him like a son. He killed my daughter, but he also killed me. I'll never forgive him. He took our wings."
