Naples – The murder trial for the 14-year-old girl from Afragola, killed by her ex-boyfriend Alessio Tucci, begins with the voice of Martina Carbonaro's mother. Tomorrow, before the Naples Assize Court, Fiorenza Cossentino will be heard, asked to reconstruct her daughter's life, her last days, and everything that preceded that evening in May 2025 when Martina disappeared.

The court is also expecting testimony from Anna, the friend who spent the 14-year-old's final hours before her death with her. This will be an important step in the preliminary investigation, as it could help reconstruct the girl's final movements before meeting Tucci and entering the abandoned building near the Moccia Stadium.

The disappearance and the crime

Martina disappeared on the evening of May 26, 2025. The search continued until her body was found two days later in the former home of the caretaker of the Moccia stadium in Afragola.

According to the prosecution's reconstruction and the findings of the investigation, Tucci lured Martina to the building under a pretext. She reiterated her desire not to return to him. At that point, according to the young man's confession and the investigative reconstruction, her ex-boyfriend hit her on the head with a rock, causing her death. Her body was then hidden under old furniture and debris.

Tucci, now twenty years old, confessed to the murder and is charged before the Naples Assize Court with aggravated voluntary manslaughter. The North Naples Prosecutor's Office, at the conclusion of its investigation, has alleged four aggravating circumstances; cruelty, as initially suspected, is no longer among them.

The trial and the first hearing were marked by tension

The trial began on May 19th. The first hearing was marked by moments of intense tension between the victim's and the defendant's families.

As Tucci entered the courtroom, insults and threats were hurled. The situation escalated to the point where law enforcement had to intervene and the defendant's relatives had to be removed. For reasons of public order, the Court then ordered Tucci to participate in subsequent hearings via videoconference, without prejudice to his possible presence for his own examination.

Even at the end of the hearing, the atmosphere remained heated, with Martina's parents escorted by the police outside the Palace of Justice.

The mother's words and the new judicial front

The Carbonaro family's grief was evident again in subsequent hearings. On June 26, after one of the trial sessions, Enza Cossentino requested that any other people involved in the case be identified and punished, after evidence emerged in court suggesting other people were present in the area of ​​the abandoned building. She also argued that Tucci had planned the murder.

At the same time, however, the tensions between the two families have led to a second legal proceeding.

The investigation into the alleged threats

Following complaints filed by Alessio Tucci's family, the North Naples Prosecutor's Office charged Marcello Carbonaro and Enza Cossentino with alleged threats against the defendant's relatives.

According to the documents and reconstructions of the case, the investigation included two incidents on April 5 and May 9, 2026, in addition to the highly tense situation experienced during the first hearing of the trial on May 19.

The proceedings led to a precautionary measure involving the victim's parents.

No approach and electronic bracelet

On August 5, the investigating judge of the Northern Naples Court, Stefania Amodeo, ordered Marcello Carbonaro and Enza Cossentino to stay away from Alessio Tucci's family, placing them under an electronic bracelet. The measure requires them to maintain a safe distance from the individuals and places indicated in the order, including the Tucci family home.

This is a separate proceeding from that for Martina's murder: the girl's parents are not charged with their daughter's murder, but are subject to a precautionary measure as part of the investigation into alleged threats against her ex-boyfriend's family.

The defense, led by attorney Sergio Pisani, strongly contested the ruling. According to the lawyer, the contested remarks were uttered in a moment of desperation and had no real intimidating effect. Pisani announced he would appeal to the Court of Review, arguing the need to distinguish an outburst of grief from a criminally relevant threat.

"They weren't threats, but outbursts."

Enza Cossentino herself, after the ruling, denied the accusation of intending to make a concrete threat to Tucci's family. She described those words as "moments of emotional outburst" from parents devastated by their daughter's death and stated that she respected the judge's decision, including the requirement for an electronic tag.

The woman reiterated that her sole goal remains to obtain justice for Martina and determine any possible responsibility for her daughter's death.

The confrontation with the witnesses tomorrow

It is against this backdrop, marked by two distinct legal paths and a family tension that has now also taken on criminal implications, that Fiorenza Cossentino will return to court tomorrow.

Her testimony will inevitably be one of the most delicate moments of the trial. The mother will have to answer questions from the court, the prosecutor, and the defense, reconstructing the story from the victim's family's perspective.

Anna, the friend who was with Martina during the final hours of her life, will be interviewed immediately afterwards. Her testimony could help establish a crucial part of the timeline that preceded the girl's meeting with Tucci.

The trial will now have to establish, through evidence, testimony, and investigations, all criminal liability for Martina's death. The other proceedings, involving her parents, remain in the background, adding another painful judicial chapter to a story that continues to unfold in the courts.
