A 28-year-old from Brusciano falls from his horse along the Sentiero del Cuore (Path of the Heart): he is seriously injured.

Moments of great concern along one of Abruzzo's most popular tourist routes. A twenty-seven-year-old from Campania, Aurora Esposito—a resident of Acerra but originally from Brusciano—is hospitalized in serious condition at Teramo's Mazzini Hospital following a serious fall from a horse during an excursion in Scanno, in the province of L'Aquila.

Rescue and helicopter flight

The accident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, September 7, along the famous Sentiero del Cuore (Heart Path). The alarm was immediately raised by the girl's boyfriend, who was hiking with her. Emergency medical services quickly arrived on the scene and, assessing the seriousness of the situation, arranged for her to be transferred by helicopter to the Teramo hospital with a red-code status.

Among the young woman's most serious injuries was chest trauma. Fortunately, according to what emerged in the hours following her hospitalization, the twenty-seven-year-old's life is not in danger.

The family's appeal

Aurora's parents have intervened in the incident, requesting that all necessary investigations be conducted to clarify what happened: "Our priority is our daughter's health. Her condition is serious, and we are living through difficult times. We ask for a precise reconstruction of what happened, to understand the causes of the fall and determine any liability. We want answers based on the facts."

The investigations of the Prosecutor's Office

Carabinieri from the Castel di Sangro Company are investigating the circumstances of the fall, having responded to the accident site to conduct the necessary investigations to reconstruct the events. The Sulmona Public Prosecutor's Office has also been informed of the incident and will monitor the investigation.
