Castellammare, the Denza Institute gym will be named after Giancarlo Siani.

A school gymnasium dedicated to Giancarlo Siani, transforming sport, memory, and civic engagement into educational tools. This is the initiative of the "Denza-Castellammare 4" Comprehensive School in Castellammare di Stabia, which on Friday, September 18th, will name its sports hall after the journalist from "Il Mattino" newspaper, killed by the Camorra in 1985.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature Paolo Siani, the reporter's brother, school principal Annapaola Di Martino, and journalist Michelangelo Iossa, one of the initiative's promoters.

The choice of gym is no coincidence. Before dedicating himself to journalism and investigations, Siani was an athlete and youth volleyball coach for FIDES Vomero. For him, sport represented a place of growth, discipline, and community—the same values ​​the school today strives to instill in the younger generations.

During the meeting, Paolo Siani will discuss his brother's life, his work for "Il Mattino," and his search for truth, along with the civic passion that shaped his career.

The morning will focus on the school's students, coordinated by Legal Affairs Coordinator Maria Palumbo. The students will perform a flashmob to the tune of Imagine Dragons' "Believer," and then take to the court for a demonstration volleyball match, wearing uniforms specially designed for the occasion.

The dedication comes at the end of a program dedicated to memory and legality already underway at the institute. Student activities included a visit to the Villa Bruno Library in San Giorgio a Cremano, where Siani's green Mehari is kept, and several cultural events with writer Lorenzo Marone and the band SeiSeiSei, featuring Maurizio Capone, Marco Gesualdi, and Vittorio Nicoletti Altimari.

The gym will thus become a place where the memory of the journalist killed by organized crime intertwines with the daily lives of young people: not just a plaque, but a space dedicated to sport and education, where memory and civic responsibility can continue to speak to new generations.
