Naples and Campania weather today, September 11: thunderstorms and sudden showers, yellow alert until 14 p.m.

Naples – A decidedly more unstable September day awaits Naples and the rest of Campania today, Friday, September 11th. After the warm and more stable weather of recent days, the region is experiencing a phase of low pressure bringing cloud cover, showers, and thunderstorms, alternating with sunny spells.

The situation is also being closely monitored by the regional Civil Protection Department, which has issued a yellow weather alert valid until 2:00 PM today for the entire Campania region. The bulletin warns of the possibility of sudden showers and thunderstorms, especially at night and in the early part of the day.

Naples, morning with rain and thunderstorms

The weather in the capital is quite variable. Forecasts call for temperatures ranging from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, with precipitation concentrated mostly in the early hours of the day.

In Capodichino, the hourly forecast calls for thunderstorms and rain during the night, followed by showers and clouds in the morning. During the afternoon, however, the situation should gradually improve, with large clearings and temperatures around 28 degrees.

The ARPAC bulletin for September 11 also describes Campania as being embedded in a low-pressure system, with very cloudy skies and scattered precipitation. For the Naples-Caserta area, a high of around 29 degrees Celsius and a low of between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius are forecast, depending on the area.

The risk of thunderstorms and the yellow alert

This is the most significant aspect of the day. The regional Civil Protection Department is drawing attention to the possibility of rapid and locally intense thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning, hail, and gusts of wind.

The alert covers the entire region and, in addition to thunderstorms, includes possible land effects: flooding, runoff on roads, rising water levels in small streams, falling branches or trees, and, in the most vulnerable areas, possible landslides and rockfall.

In Naples, in light of the alert, precautionary measures have been implemented, including the closure of city parks and the Bagnoli North Pier and the prohibition of access to public beaches during the period covered by the warning.

Campania, from bad weather to clearings

However, the worsening conditions will not be uniform throughout the day. After the most unstable phase, the weather should gradually lose consistency, giving way to clearings, especially in the afternoon.

Even in inland areas, the situation remains variable: in Avellino, showers and clouds are expected in the first part of the day, with subsequent clearings and temperatures that could reach around 29 degrees.

The common thread, therefore, remains instability, with phenomena that may be localized and rapidly evolving. This is typical of the early stages of seasonal change, when the still-warm air over the Mediterranean can accentuate the effects of incoming disturbances.

Temperatures slightly decreasing

The passing low pressure system will also bring a moderate reduction in the heat. In Naples, highs are expected to hover around 29-30 degrees Celsius, while overnight temperatures will drop to around 22-24 degrees Celsius. According to available forecasts, temperatures will remain around 30 degrees Celsius over the next few days, but with gradually more stable conditions.

In short, September 11th brings a temporary change of scenery to Campania: umbrellas at the ready, especially in the early part of the day, and watch out for sudden thunderstorms and gusts, followed by a gradual easing of the weather and the return of clear skies.
