Riccardo Bossi arrested, must serve 5 years and 9 months

Riccardo Bossi, son of Lega founder Umberto Bossi, was arrested and taken to the prison in Busto Arsizio, in the Varese area. The Carabinieri carried out the arrest, implementing a detention order signed by Busto Arsizio prosecutor Carlo Nocerino.

The measure concerns a cumulative sentence of 5 years and 9 months of imprisonment, relating to several now definitive convictions.

The sentences included in the cumulative

Among the proceedings under consideration is a sentence of 1 year and 8 months for aggravated embezzlement, relating to approximately 158 euros from the League which, according to the reconstruction of the proceedings, were earmarked for personal expenses incurred between 2009 and 2011.

The charge also includes a 9-month sentence for fraud and fraudulent insolvency.

A significant portion of the overall sentence concerns the citizen's income issue. Bossi was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months for unlawful receipt of the benefit. The sentence became final last June, after the Court of Cassation declared the defense's appeal inadmissible.

According to the investigation, Bossi allegedly unduly received approximately €12.800 between 2020 and 2023, based on a certificate deemed false.

The proceedings for the alleged mistreatment

However, the sentence of 1 year and 4 months for alleged mistreatment of the mother is not included in the cumulation.

The sentence was confirmed by the Milan Court of Appeal, but it is not yet final: the Court of Cassation must rule on the matter.

For this reason, the relevant proceedings were excluded from the detention order executed in the last few hours.
