Wizz Air lands in Salerno: three new routes to Budapest, Tirana, and Warsaw starting June 2027.

Wizz Air is expanding its presence in Campania and, from 6 June 2027, will connect Salerno Costa d'Amalfi e Cilento Airport with three international destinations for the first time: Budapest, Tirana and Warsaw.

The addition of the Salerno airport to the airline's network represents a new step in its regional growth strategy, just weeks after the announcement of a fourth Airbus A321neo based at Naples International Airport starting in March 2027.

The new flights will be operated with Airbus A321neo aircraft. The Salerno-Budapest route will operate every Wednesday and Sunday, the Tirana route on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, while the Warsaw route will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays. Tickets are already available on the Wizz Air website and app, with announced fares starting from €24,99 for Budapest, €14,99 for Tirana, and €22,99 for Warsaw.

With the launch of these new routes, the airline aims to strengthen the complementarity between Naples and Salerno airports. "For us, Naples and Salerno represent two complementary components of a single, strong Campania hub, through which we aim to offer passengers ever more travel opportunities and, at the same time, support the region's international appeal," said József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air.

The airline also highlighted the growth seen in Naples, where operating capacity increased by 62% year-over-year, while in the 2026 summer season, the increase reached 133,6% compared to the previous summer. This is in addition to the fourth aircraft arriving in March 2027, new destinations to Palermo, Nice, Basel, and Genoa, and approximately 500 additional seats.

For Salerno, Wizz Air's arrival marks the opening of three international markets and a further expansion of the airport's offerings. "Wizz Air's announcement is an important sign for the growth of Salerno Airport and confirms the airline's confidence in the Campania airport system," commented Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC.

The new destinations, according to Barbieri, "enrich the network and open Salerno to three international markets with great potential, strengthening Campania's connections with the Balkans and Central Europe."

The agreement also provides for a progressive expansion of Wizz Air's presence at the airport: one new destination per year for the next three years, with the aim of reaching a total of six routes operated by the company.

"The challenge, therefore, begins now: working together to ensure the success of these routes and create the conditions for an increasingly important Wizz Air presence in Salerno and for further development of the airport's international connectivity," concluded Barbieri.

Campania is thus facing an increasingly complex airport system, with Naples and Salerno expected to handle new passenger flows and international tourism to the region's main destinations, from Naples to the Amalfi Coast.
