A school for Luigi Longobardi, hero of the sea, in Lettere

Letters – The inauguration ceremony for the new school complex dedicated to Luigi Longobardi, a sailor and electrician who received the Gold Medal of Military Valor (in memoriam), was held today. The school is located on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, adjacent to the town hall. The ANMI group of Castellammare di Stabia, also named after the Hero of Letters, actively participated in the event, organizing a small exhibition of photos and posters commemorating Longobardi's brief but intense and heroic war experience.

Amidst cheering schoolchildren, tricolor balloons, and a large gathering of residents, the civil, military, and religious authorities were welcomed with sincere and respectful gratitude by Mayor Anna Amendola and Headmistress Dr. Anna Pia Pelella.

After the flag-raising ceremony performed by personnel from the Naples Navy Logistics Command, accompanied by the National Anthem performed by the Southern Maritime Command Band, based in Taranto, and sung by elementary school students, there were speeches from officials and from a granddaughter of the city hero, who, with evident emotion, thanked the Municipal Administration for having commemorated her young relative in such a fitting manner.

Following this, a realistic mural depicting sailor Luigi Longobardi was unveiled, created with the long-standing support of the ANMI Stabiese group, on one of the school's exterior walls. After the artwork was blessed, the ribbon was cut, followed by a guided tour of the new school complex and a sumptuous buffet.
