Scuola Viva: Approximately 450 applications from Campania for the 2027-2028 two-year period.

Naples – Approximately 450 applications from Campania schools have been submitted as part of the Campania Region's public notice for the "Scuola Viva" program, covering the 2027 and 2028 academic years.
The participation, described as broad by the Region, confirms the school communities' interest in continuing extracurricular activities and the program's consolidated role in combating school dropout.

The distribution of questions

The applications are distributed across the region as follows:
70 from schools in the city of Naples;
184 from institutes in the province of Naples;
135 in total from the provinces of Avellino, Benevento and Caserta;
60 from the city and province of Salerno.

The Campania Region will now examine the applications received, with the goal of quickly completing the evaluation process and allowing activities to begin as quickly as possible.

Schools open beyond school hours

Funded by the European Social Fund Plus, Scuola Viva is a multi-year program promoted by the Campania Region to expand the educational offering beyond traditional school hours.
The project includes afternoon and summer openings for the schools, which become safe and educational spaces for students and local communities. Workshops and activities dedicated to music, art, theater, sports, digital skills, foreign languages, and career guidance are also planned.

The program also aims to strengthen collaboration between schools, families, local authorities, third-sector associations, businesses, and local professionals. Special attention is given to vulnerable students, those at risk of dropping out or from challenging socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as students with disabilities and immigrant backgrounds.

Councilor Morniroli's comment

"We received a significant turnout, which demonstrates the schools' desire to increasingly open themselves to their communities and strengthen their ability to address inequality, vulnerability, and dropout," said Andrea Morniroli, Campania Region Councilor for Schools and Social Policies.

"The goal," he added, "is to combine teaching and extracurricular activities, socializing and culture. We believe in a public school that can intervene before hardship turns into exclusion, a school that doesn't select and that offers everyone the tools to freely build their own path."
With the renewal for the two-year period 2027-2028, hundreds of schools in Campania will be able to continue to serve as community centers open to the public, offering families an educational and social hub in the afternoons.
