Cybersecurity Skills
Rome – The weak point of any cybersecurity system is always the same: the person in front of the screen. However, they can become its strength, if they can recognize a risk, ask for help, and report an error. This is the message that Marco Gabriele Proietti, president and founder of the Cyber Security Foundation, delivered in his speech at Cybertech Europe 2026, at the Nuvola in Rome.
According to Proietti, training is the lever that transforms European cybersecurity policies into concrete capabilities, from specialists to end users. The Foundation already applies this approach, from classrooms to prisons. It offers training programs in Italian high schools, penitentiaries, and juvenile detention centers.
With the 'Lucia' project, she uses accessible tools and language to help people with cognitive disabilities navigate online independently. "European policies only truly work when people know how to apply them. This requires different approaches: specialists must be able to manage threats, managers must make informed decisions, and users must recognize everyday risks. Everyone is responsible, but everyone needs training appropriate to their role," said Proietti.
