Torre del Greco – Three people were injured, including a 77-year-old woman hospitalized with a critical prognosis, in a violent traffic accident overnight in Torre del Greco. The collision occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the well-known intersection of Corso Avezzana and Via Circumvallazione.

The dynamics and impact on the pavement

For reasons still under investigation, an SUV and a Peugeot 107 collided extremely violently. Due to the force of the impact, the SUV lost control and ended up completely overturning onto the curb, while the small car was destroyed in the front. The scene as it appeared raised fears for the worst for first responders.

Rescue and hospitalization

Emergency medical personnel responded immediately, stabilizing the injured before transporting them to the hospital. The most critical situation concerns the 77-year-old woman, who was rushed to the Ospedale del Mare in Naples, where doctors have reserved their prognosis. According to initial reports, fortunately, her life is not in danger. The other two injured were taken to the city's "Maresca" hospital for treatment.

Carabinieri officers from the Mobile Radio Unit responded to the scene to conduct technical surveys and secure the intersection. Officers are examining several hypotheses to reconstruct the exact trajectory of the two vehicles: the main causes are thought to be high speed and failure to yield right of way.
