Ethnos 2026, final at Villa Bruno
The 31st edition of the international world music festival, conceived and directed by Gigi Di Luca, draws to a close on Saturday, October 10th with a collective concert and the finals of the Ethnos GenerAzioni Award. The event takes place at the Fonderia Righetti, within the Villa Bruno complex, in San Giorgio a Cremano (Naples).
Starting at 20:30 PM, five projects selected from over 150 Italian submissions will take the stage: Abdo Buda Marconi, Curanime, Moola, Sirlene, and Angelica Perri. The evening, hosted by Giuliana Galasso, offers a €5 admission fee.
GenerAzioni, now in its eighth edition, is the section dedicated to young artists who combine creativity and dialogue between cultures, with cross-pollination of musical languages. The winner will receive a grant of €10.000 to organize a tour of at least five dates, funded by Nuovo Imaie, and will be able to perform on two Ethnos stages the following year, including at Folkest.
Nubras Ensemble, the group that won last year's Ethnos GenerAzioni, will return to perform at the festival this year. Founded in Rome in 2022, the ensemble brings together Italian, Spanish, and Romanian musicians and blends Balkan, Mediterranean, jazz, and classical music. The performance is scheduled for Friday, October 9th, at 9:00 PM, in the courtyard of the Church of Ave Gratia Plena in Boscotrecase (free admission).
The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with a nature trail along Via Fruscio to discover the landscapes and history of the Vesuvian area. Admission is free, but reservations are required. The trail will conclude at Francesco Manzo's Officina Vesuviana – “Terminal 1.9.0.6.”, where Ass'urd, a duo consisting of Lorella Monti (vocals, frame drums) and Cristina Vetrone (vocals and accordion), will perform at 12:00 p.m.
Ethnos is promoted by La Bazzarra, in collaboration with Nuovo Imaie and the Municipality of San Giorgio a Cremano, and is supported by the Campania Region through Scabec, the Ministry of Culture, the Banca di Credito Popolare, and the Metropolitan City of Naples, with the collaboration of the Institut Ramon Llull.
Ethnos 2026 offered, over the course of a month (from September 12th to October 10th), a program that saw artists from 14 countries, with 20 musical events, 10 of which were national exclusives, 5 meetings and discussions with the artists, a dance workshop, a nature trail and 3 days dedicated to ethnomusical cinema, spread across 9 locations including villas, churches, amphitheaters and museum spaces along the paths of Vesuvius.
Founded in 1995 to revive the folk traditions of the Vesuvian area, Ethnos is today one of the main showcases of world and ethnic music in Italy, promoted by La Bazzarra and supported by public bodies and foundations.
