Napoli have returned to Scott McTominay on the eve of the league's resumption. The midfielder will be called up for the match against Frosinone and, according to Massimiliano Allegri, could play 20-30 minutes. This is positive news for the Azzurri, who, however, must contend with the absences of Vergara and Favasuli, who are sidelined for a longer period.
Olivera, however, is expected to return within a week; Anguissa is continuing his recovery.
"We have some positives and I'm not worried," said the coach, also mentioning Marianucci's return and Badiashile's growth.
Allegri isn't underestimating Frosinone, who are due at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Saturday, October 10, at 8:45 PM for the sixth matchday of Serie A. "They're a team that plays well and runs," the coach warned, but Napoli's objective is clear: "We absolutely must bring home the win."
The three points would allow the Azzurri to approach their Champions League match against Villarreal with greater momentum, at the start of a busy month of matches. "There must be no excuses: we must take to the pitch with responsibility, determination, and respect," Allegri insisted.
The coach found the players returning from international duty in good condition. Hojlund, he noted, has scored two goals in his first five games; De Bruyne has found the net for his country. Allegri anticipated that there will be some changes, without going into specifics.
"They'll have to rest today, but we'll be ready tomorrow night. We've made changes and there are positives to get a result," he explained.
Allegri expects the three-week international break to have a different meaning depending on the outcome of the match: "We'll see tomorrow who has benefited from the break: it will be an advantage if we win, a penalty if we lose."
The coach also returned to his outburst in Florence before the break, acknowledging his own mistakes and highlighting an area the team must improve on: reading the moments of the game. "The team must understand the different phases of the game well," he said, recalling the 2-0 win in Milan and the match against Fiorentina.
In closing, Allegri cited the data on actual playing time in the Italian league, attributing it to Orsato's work, and emphasized how the increase in minutes played makes the schedule even more intense for teams also competing in Europe.
