Salerno: 26-year-old arrested with drugs, weapons, and homemade explosives in his home

Yesterday afternoon, in Montecorvino Rovella (Salerno), the Carabinieri arrested a 26-year-old local man for possession of explosives, illegal possession of a common firearm and clandestine weapons, and possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

Following a personal and home search and investigation, the suspect was found in possession of numerous substances and equipment, allowing the reconstruction of a context of trafficking and potential danger. Specifically, investigators were notified of approximately 23 kilograms of hashish and approximately 4,5 kilograms of cocaine, stored in sealed blocks, as well as 650 grams of a mannitol-type cutting agent.

Among the packaging materials were three precision scales and a vacuum packaging machine. Details of the search also revealed the presence of a substantial arsenal: a semi-automatic rifle with two magazines, five pistols, two of which were semi-automatic with erased serial numbers, three revolvers of different calibers, a silencer, and various types of ammunition.

Completing the scene were three homemade explosive devices with high offensive potential. For these reasons, the Naples Carabinieri anti-sabotage bomb squad intervened to secure the area and neutralize the devices. The arrest was made by Carabinieri officers, who also arrested the 26-year-old, who is now being held for investigation.
