Naples. Auchan employees at risk of dismissal, the regional councilors of the Democratic Party, Gianluca Daniele and Enza Amato express solidarity. "Today we brought our solidarity to the 149 workers of Auchan in Naples who have been affected by an unexpected dismissal procedure. The workers at risk, however, could be many more if the sale were to impact all the Auchan centers in Campania. During the morning we met with the company managers of the Neapolitan hypermarket, including Dr. Capalbio who, immediately after our meeting, also spoke with the regional trade union organizations Filcams Cgil and Uiltucs to whom they illustrated the situation, also giving initial information to the workers. As said to both the workers and the company managers, we believe this story is emblematic of the crisis of large-scale distribution in Campania and Naples and, above all, we find it unacceptable that the union representatives and workers learned of this procedure from the newspapers without having had any prior communication. The situation of Auchan is symptomatic of the great precariousness and flexibility of this sector, but unfortunately also of the loss of rights that, in recent years, has been characterizing the world of work. In fact, from the transfer of the branch of the company, which should go to an important chain in Campania, the workers will not only risk losing their jobs, but also see their rights eliminated and their job stability reduced. This risk derives from the lack of social clauses that do not allow the application of fundamental rights starting from Article 18. In the next few hours we will take action to convene a regional table with the competent councilors able to ensure concrete support so that Auchan remains in the Campania region and, in any case, provide integration to the workers if the company were to maintain the transfer of the branch of the company”.
