In recent days, the Salerno Forestry Carabinieri Group has carried out targeted services throughout the province for the prevention and fight against environmental crimes. In particular, the military personnel of the Padula Forestry Carabinieri Station have ascertained the illegal management of waste and other environmental violations in a marble processing company located in the Molinella area of the municipality of Teggiano. The investigations carried out have highlighted that the activity was conducted without a single environmental authorization and without the registers and documents for traceability and waste management. Furthermore, the military personnel have discovered that, on the land belonging to the company, there is abandoned waste consisting of residues from marble processing for a surface area of approximately 450 square meters and an estimated quantity of 150 cubic meters, as well as three collection tanks for processing sludge in relation to which the uncontrolled storage of waste has been ascertained. During the inspection, conducted with the support of personnel from the municipal technical office, the dangerousness of the building also emerged due to the precarious stability of the property and the non-compliant systems. In this circumstance, the Carabinieri proceeded to seize both the 320 m22.000 building and the area used for waste disposal, reporting the person responsible to the Judicial Authority. In Sarno, however, the military personnel from the local Carabinieri Forestry Station discovered an illegal landfill of special waste in Muro d'Arce, inside a completely fenced agricultural land. The operators ascertained that significant quantities of special waste, equal to approximately XNUMX cubic meters, were disposed of inside the land, consisting mainly of inert material from demolitions and building works, disposed of without any authorization and used as fill to almost completely fill the natural difference in level of the land, thus modifying the profile of the agricultural land.
The entire agricultural area used as a landfill, of approximately 8.000 square meters, was seized, while the owner was reported to the Judicial Authority for the crime of illegal landfill of special waste.
