The Minister of Health, Giulia Grillo, has signed the ministerial decree containing the rules of the regulation on the Transplant Information System (Sit), provided for by Law No. 91 of April 1999, 1999, which regulates the principle of silent consent on organ donation. “After twenty years, we have finally unlocked a fundamental step for the application of the silent consent provided for by the law on organ donation approved in 190, but which has remained a dead letter,” declared Minister Grillo, underlining: “Two decades are too many to implement a civilized law that the country needs.” And “many more lives can be saved in this way, but to do so, citizens must be adequately informed and aware, and for this reason we will launch a new information campaign.” The Sit regulates the traceability and transparency of the entire organ donation-removal-transplant process. The ministerial decree also contains provisions relating to the National Registry of Cell Donors for Heterologous Medically Assisted Procreation, provided for by Law 2014 of 91. In the coming months, moreover - the Ministry of Health has announced - the other provisions of Law 1999 of XNUMX will be implemented, namely the adaptation of the National Registry of Patients (Ana) in all health companies.
