The citizen of San Giovanni a Teduccio, Antonio Verdetti, member of a community of about 200 members, the Evangelical Association "Nuova Pentecoste", whose president and leader is Mr. Antonio Izzo, which operates in the territory of San Giovanni a Teduccio, helping the children of the neighborhood and people who live in difficult conditions, turned to the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emilio Borrelli: "We try to give a chance to the disadvantaged children of the neighborhood and a hot meal to those who need it. In order to carry out our project we need a headquarters, a structure. We identified it in a building that housed a school, now abandoned and in a critical condition. 5 years ago the Municipality told us that they could not grant us the building because the reopening of the school was planned, which however did not happen and now that place has become a refuge for drug addicts.
We are willing to pay a monthly rent for that location and we would take on the cleaning and renovation costs, if we are given a hand and a meeting point is found.”
"The bureaucracy of our country, with its elephantine rhythms, manages to discourage any good initiative. A dilapidated structure could rise again as a symbol of a community that wants to restore dignity and new life to its neighborhood and instead everything remains still and immobile. We must streamline and speed up the bureaucracy to encourage this type of initiative, we must help those who have ideas and the strength to set up projects aimed at improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods. For this reason I will propose a meeting between the municipality and the association to seek a meeting point and a possible solution" - declared Councilor Borrelli.
