There was a Camorra summit a few days before the resumption of the Fuorigotta feud in April 2021 in which the powerful clan Jumpalamacchia of the Spanish Quarters has practically "unloaded" the Sorianiello of the “99” of the Traiano district giving the green light to the stub to act.
Article Key Points
This is what emerges from the over 700 pages of the precautionary order signed by the investigating judge Antonio Santoro and with which the DDA of Naples two weeks ago dealt a definitive blow to the Troncone clans of Fuorigrotta and Frizziero of the Riviera di Chiaia.
But on the morning of that summit that is, on April 12, 2021, in the heart of Fuorigrotta, the premise of yet another chapter in the Camorra war between clans for control of the territory is recorded and intercepted.
That morning, Vital Troncone, Together with son Joseph and a third man known as “Simone”, was inside a house on via Caio Duilio, already under surveillance by the police.
During an intercepted conversation, Vitale and Giuseppe Troncone expressed in heated tones their resentment towards the men of the “99”, accusing them of arrogant and criminal behavior.
Giuseppe Troncone: “…I take the gun and kill someone”
The young Giuseppe, exasperated, went so far as to openly threaten to take action: “Until I pick up a gun and kill someone.” Vitale doubled down, denouncing extortion against traders (“they ask for 100 euros, 50 euros, they take the cars”), robberies (“they take watches from their wrists and necklaces from their necks”) and shots in the air to intimidate the population, causing the closure of some commercial activities, including a massage center near Via Cumana.
The head of the Troncone clan he expressed his intention to restore order in the neighborhood: “I've set foot back on land, now they have to go. I sent them a clear message: they have to disappear, Simò”. The main target of the accusations was Francis Iadonisi, father-in-law of Flavio DiLorenzo, held responsible for having facilitated the infiltration of the Sorianiello clan in Fuorigrotta.
That same afternoon, a meeting between the bosses Mariano Frizziero, leading figures of the Saltalamacchia clan of the Spanish Quarters e Simone Sorianiello, son of boss Alfredo the blond and who at the time (before being arrested) was the regent of the gang, confirmed the general discontent with the behavior of the members of the "99".
The Saltalamacchia diktat: “Everyone must stay in their own neighborhood”
During the summit, the management of the territory was criticized and the episode of the “stesa” to the detriment of the Troncone was condemned. The Saltalamacchia strongly distanced themselves: "We don't want these things. Everyone should stay in their own neighborhood: Fuorigrotta for the Fuorigrottesi, Bagnoli for the Bagnolesi." A position that demonstrated the Troncone's ability to weave alliances even with major criminal groups.
Revenge is not long in coming
Two weeks later, the tension exploded in a punitive expedition. CCTV footage captured a shocking scene: scooters launched at high speed in broad daylight, shots fired in the middle of the street, heedless of passers-by.
Although the killers' actions did not allow them to be identified with certainty, the investigators - based on the interceptions and the reconstructed movements - considered it plausible to attribute the ambush to the leaders of the Troncone clan, Vitale and Giuseppe.
The clues were clear: the target of the attack, Gennaro Volpe, had already been the recipient of threats from Vitale Troncone through Antonio Volpe, his relative. Furthermore, the ambush took place right in Fuorigrotta, in the midst of the reorganization of the Troncone clan.
The ambush of Volpe Gennaro
On April 30, 2021, at approximately 15:55 p.m., Gennaro Volpe was hit by several gunshots in via Giacomo Leopardi. The victim was riding a Honda SH, driven by Paolo Sanso, he too has a criminal record and is considered close to the Sorianiello clan of the Traiano district.
The investigations, conducted by analyzing footage from numerous public and private surveillance cameras, reconstructed in detail the dynamics of the ambush: three scooters involved, six people in total. A Honda SH with a covered license plate chased the other two scooters - one with the license plate EW51478 (driven by Sansò) and the other with a foreign license plate KNI56E (used by ...omissis...) - opening fire in their direction.
The escape took different routes: the scooter with foreign license plates managed to disappear by suddenly turning onto via GB Marino, while the other scooter, with Volpe and Sansò on board, continued towards viale Traiano, an area known as “99”. After a frantic chase, the assailants also retreated, returning towards via Canzanella Vecchia, the Troncone stronghold.
The investigative confirmations
Through the analysis of surveillance videos, investigators were able to reconstruct the entire sequence and identified with certainty Volpe as the target of the ambush and Sansò as the driver of the vehicle.
The ambush, framed as an act of the Camorra, was part of the bloody clash between the Troncone and Sorianiello clans for control of Fuorigrotta, a clash fueled by deep rivalries linked to the control of illicit trafficking: drugs, extortion, illegal parking and clandestine betting.
The investigative framework, supported by environmental interceptions and meticulous analysis of video surveillance systems, has allowed us to reconstruct the climate of terror that suffocated Fuorigrotta at that time and to highlight once again how control of the territory was achieved through violence and intimidation.

The article talks about a Camorra summit that took place and describes the dynamics between the clans. It is interesting to note how there is strong tension between the various groups. However, I wonder if there really is a solution to this complex situation.
