Immuni, the appeal of family doctors: 'Downloading it is an act of love and can save lives'

Immuni, l’appello dei medici di famiglia: ‘Scaricarla è un gesto d’amore e può salvare delle vite’.

It is a unanimous voice that is raised by the FIMMG in Campania in favor of the Immuni application, which has been active throughout Italy since Monday 15 and which serves to trace and break the chain of contagion. After a week of testing in Liguria, Abruzzo, Marche and Puglia, the app, based on Bluetooth technology, has in fact debuted in the rest of the country. "We are ready to give our contribution once again - explains the deputy regional secretary of FIMMG Vincenzo Schiavo - also in helping patients who may have difficulty using their smartphone. We must implement every possible tool that helps us not to be caught unprepared when there may be a resurgence of the virus in the fall. Lowering our guard would be a very serious mistake".

Perni dell’assistenza e del contenimento nella fase 1, i doctors della medicina generale si fanno avanti ancora una volta per dare sostegno alla tenuta del sistema sanitario nazionale. «I medici di famiglia – prosegue Schiavo – sono chiamati a giocare un ruolo cruciale in questa seconda fase così come ad ottobre e novembre, quando sarà il momento di avviare la campagna vaccinale contro l’influenza di stagione. Spero che quanti più cittadini possibile scelgano di fare un gesto d’amore verso se stessi e verso il prossimo, in modo particolare verso i soggetti più fragili, e scarichino l’app per dare il proprio contributo. Farlo significa salvare delle vite. Solo così si potrà tornare alla normalità convivendo con il virus in attesa che venga definitivamente debellato da un vaccino».
The system is based on Bluetooth Low Energy technology and does not use geolocation data of any kind, including GPS. The app does not collect and is not able to obtain any identifying data of the user, such as name, surname, date of birth, address, telephone number or email address. Immuni is therefore able to determine that contact between two users has occurred, but not who the two users actually are or where they met.
