Naples, in Piazza Mercato an evening with a mega soccer tournament without any permit with fireworks and neomelodic songs and zero controls. Verdi: "This umpteenth incident brings back the degradation and abandonment to which this square has been abandoned for years. We need to create more soccer fields and sports centers to take young people off the streets, but they must be centers managed legally." The protest of the kids from the Spanish Quarters: "we who asked for permits were hindered in every way".
Late in the evening of June 15, a huge clandestine soccer tournament took place with 12 participating teams, with a crowd crowded behind barriers, photographers, celebrations, fireworks and much-discussed neomelodic singers, all of which happened despite the anti-covid rules still being in force and there having been no authorization.
During the radio show “La Radiazza”, hosted by Gianni Simioli and with the Regional Councilor of the Greens Francesco Emio Borrelli, a young man spoke live on the phone and told the story of a soccer tournament he had organized: “I organized a soccer tournament, the “Scugnizzo Cup”, which was scheduled for June 9, and I had all the permits in order, but the authorities have decided instead that the event should be postponed to June 25 and we don’t understand why.”
English: "A completely wrong message is being sent out here, it seems that those who respect the rules are being hindered in every way while those who don't care about the rules and give rise to events that break every safety protocol and create inconvenience for residents aren't even checked. Those who haven't carried out the necessary checks have serious responsibilities, the only ones who aren't at fault here are the kids, they have the sacred right to play sports, to participate in events and to get together and that's why we're asking that, especially in the most difficult neighborhoods, more soccer fields and sports centers be created, but they must be managed legally. Sport must serve to keep young people away from the streets and certainly not to bring them even closer to negative environments, we need a restoration of legality and an education in healthy values and principles. That's why we're also asking to know who the organizers of this event were and to which environments they belong." - said Councilor Borrelli and Giani Caselli, councilor of the Sole Che Ride of the municipality I.
“The situation in Piazza Mercato is very difficult, the works for the restyling of the square are proceeding at a snail's pace and this creates degradation and inconvenience for residents, we need to give a signal of change in that area which is increasingly abandoned and above all at night it is truly a no man's land.” - continued Salvatore Iodice, councilor of the Greens of Municipality II
