The whale that got stuck in the port of Sorrento died. Divers found it 20 meters deep
The poor whale that ran aground in the port of Sorrento yesterday afternoon did not make it. The news was communicated by the Marine Protected Area of Punta Campanella, following the inspection carried out this morning by divers from the Sorrento Port Authority.
The carcass of the mammal was located at about 20 meters of depth. Also on site are the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station, as well as the Coast Guard and the Marine Protected Area. We are waiting for the ASL to organize the difficult recovery of the animal. Yesterday an attempt was made to rescue the cetacean in the hope that it would be able to get back out to sea, but this was not the case.
