The investigating judge of Palermo has confirmed the arrest of Salvatore Baglione, 37, accused of the murder of his wife Piera Napoli, 32
Piera Napoli, a neo melodic singer and mother of three, whose lifeless body was found on Sunday in the bathroom of her home, in the working-class neighborhood of Cruillas, in Palermo.
In a video conference from Pagliarelli prison, Baglione reiterated what he told the Carabinieri on Sunday: "It was a sudden fit of rage. I killed her because my wife was cheating on me."
The man is being investigated for voluntary homicide, with the aggravating circumstances of “futile motives and cruelty”. The investigating judge has also ordered his remand in prison. During the investigation, conducted by the Compagnia San Lorenzo, led by Captain Simone Calabrò, dramatic testimonies were collected from some friends of the victim who, fifteen days ago, after yet another fight, had thrown Salvatore Baglione out of the house.

The Palermo prosecutor's office does not believe Salvatore Baglione. Deputy prosecutor Federica Paiola contests the aggravating circumstance of premeditation, excluding impulsive homicide. Baglione, an employee of a meat transport company, had brought home a large work knife.
With that knife, he confronted his wife, while she was in the bathroom. For the prosecution, it was therefore a planned crime. Tomorrow afternoon, the prosecutor's office will assign the task to the coroner for the autopsy, which will be held in the evening at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Policlinico. Then the body will be returned to the family for the funeral.
