Play off Eccellenza, the granata beat Virtus Cilento 2-1 in game 2 of the Eccellenza play off.
St. George and Virtus Cilento faced each other on Saturday afternoon in game 2 of the Eccellenza play-offs: the home team prevailed, beating the Cilento club 2-1 and earning their pass to the final.
San Giorgio starts off strong and shows itself near Castiello: the first scare for the visiting defense is created by Meloni who however finishes high over the crossbar. At 14' San Giorgio breaks the deadlock: nice action by the Vesuvians, Di Paola serves Panico, in turn the former Puteolana 1902 passes to the right for Meloni who crosses in for Greco was good at finishing and beating the Virtus Cilento goalkeeper for the 1-0 for the GranataShortly after, the home team were dangerous again, this time with Manzi receiving the ball from the left but failing to hit the target in a sliding tackle.
San Giorgio doesn't stop and comes very close to scoring a second goal: Di Paola overcomes several opponents, moves to the center and opens on the left for Simonetti who finishes and hits the crossbar, the ball comes back into play at the feet of Meloni who kicks wide. Virtus Cilento shows up with a free kick taken by Natiello, ball in the area for D'Attilio, Avino blocks. Simonetti tries again for San Giorgio but Castiello is good in coming out and takes refuge in the corner. At the end of the first half, Virtus equalized with Natiello who beats goalkeeper Avino from a free kick. The half-time break is 1-1.
The second half begins and the Vesuvians are dangerous with a shot from Tiscione from long range, Castiello clears the threat. The Sicilian footballer tries again with a free kick, the ball goes just over. San Giorgio wants to regain the lead and continues to push forward: Meloni receives the ball from the right, stops it with her chest and shoots with the visiting goalkeeper blocking it with his foot, the action continues and Simonetti tries with a conclusion that ends just wide.
The goal of the number 10 granata comes shortly after: Di Paola crosses from the right for Simonetti who, positioned in the penalty area, sends the ball into the net. It doesn't end there because in the 90th minute San Giorgio had the chance to score the third goal: following a shot by Meloni that was blocked by goalkeeper Castiello, Giura hit the ball with his arm and the referee pointed to the spot.

The penalty is taken by Meloni himself but his conclusion is saved, the ball returns to the feet of the Sardinian striker who however fails to tap in by sending the ball high over the crossbar. After the recovery San Giorgio can rejoice for having reached the final: Tuesday the last act for the team of mister Pasquale Borrelli against Acerrana.
