They imported large quantities of heroin from Pakistan to Italy, hiding it in the 'foam rubber' of trolleys. The Guardia di Finanza has stopped the traffic, arresting 29 people, including 4 considered the leaders of the organization.
In addition to ovules ingested by couriers, double bottoms of luggage and special abdominal bands, a gang of heroin and cocaine traffickers brought the drug from Pakistan into Italy by dissolving and solidifying it in the foam padding of trolleys or in the rigid part of suitcases, using sophisticated technological procedures. This is what emerged in the 'Last chance' investigation by the financial police of Gico of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of Ancona, coordinated by the local Public Prosecutor's Office - District Anti-Mafia Directorate, which lasted almost two years.
In this period of time, 29 people were arrested; against four of them, considered leaders of the organization, composed mainly of Pakistanis and Afghans, the financial police executed custody orders from the investigating judge of Ancona. A fifth leader of the gang is a fugitive. The arrested people were at home between Macerata, Naples, Rome and Pescara.
The foam rubber, the Guardia di Finanza ascertained, once it arrived in Italy, was processed in special laboratories, to be transformed into heroin with a particular transformation process: the elastic polyurethane foam was crushed with specific equipment, the resulting compound was sifted with filters and boiled slowly to crystallize the narcotic substance. Then, blended again, the drug was mixed with cutting substances (in particular “mannite”).

Over time seized in six regions – Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Sardinia, Lombardy and Friuli Venezia Giulia – 44 kg of heroin and 300 g of cocaine, with a total market value of over three million euros.
The criminal organisation, in fact, being able to count on numerous acolytes for the various importations of the drug, decided from time to time to use different routes, using air travel as the preferred means and using some national airports, including those of Milan, Rome, Bergamo and Trieste. In other cases, however, the drug shipments, before arriving in Italy, were temporarily stored in transit countries, such as Spain, the Netherlands and Austria where the criminal organization could count on some trusted accomplices operating in the three nations.
