Lecce. Attempts to kill newborn daughter: 34-year-old woman arrested for attempted murder. She is under house arrest in a care facility.
The episode occurred on July 23rd, this morning the carabinieri arrested the 34-year-old woman.
The birth, as the investigators reconstructed, had taken place in the woman's home, clandestinely, in the early hours of the morning of July 23, in a town in lower Salento between Maglie and Martano.
The mother initially attempted to kill the newborn, then abandoned her in the garden of the house, but was unable to cause the little girl's death.
The woman, after the arrest, triggered by a precautionary custody order issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Lecce who coordinated the investigation, is under house arrest in a rehabilitation community. The investigations were carried out by the Carabinieri of the Maglie company and the Martano station.
