Napoli. If you travel by scooter on the ring road it is easy to avoid paying the toll: just join another scooter driver, one pays, the other doesn't, and that's it.
This is yet another episode that denounces the phenomenon of toll booth cheats that was reported by a motorist to the Regional Councillor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli:
“August 5, Naples Ring Road. At the toll booth that leads to Cuma-Monterusciello etc… 4 individuals riding two motorcycles, one pays and the other doesn’t. All this to save a euro. I’m speechless.”
“They continue to send us reports about the toll cheats on the ring road. We have sent the video to the Highway Police and the Autostrade company so that they can verify what has been reported. Above all, we ask that a system be devised that puts an end to the phenomenon, especially when it harms those motorists who, despite paying the toll, are fined when they are followed by cheaters who do not want to pay at the toll booth. For years we have been fighting against the toll, which we consider absolutely unfair, on the ring road, but this does not authorize any kind of cheating, especially if it then goes to the detriment of honest people.” – declared Councilor Borrelli.
