Saturday August 14th, before leaving Kabul, the activist took part in a demonstration against the Taliban advance towards the Afghan capital, but, after the militiamen entered the capital, she had to hide in an apartment and the following day, thanks to an airlift organised by the Farnesina, she managed to leave the country.

"We immediately responded to Zahra Ahmadi's appeal for help– says Angelo Argento, president of Culturae Italia -, and we did our utmost to save her and 5 other compatriots in grave danger of life. Culture makes sense if it saves lives. "
