The top model Linda Evangelista is seeking $50 million from the company responsible for the 5-year-old cosmetic treatment that “disfigured” her in a lawsuit filed in New York federal court.
In a post on Instagram, the supermodel who in the nineties with Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss dominated the global catwalks, said that after receiving a “CoolSculpting” (cryolipolysis) treatment which causes non-invasive reduction of body fat through localized skin cooling, she developed a rare side effect that caused her appearance to radically metamorphose to the point of making her unrecognizable.
The top model is asking for compensation for the “emotional distress” and for “economic losses” suffered, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in New York and which became known to the media during the week. The document says the treatment made her “unemployed and unable to earn money as a model”Evangelista claims she has received no compensation from the accident, other than payment for a campaign prior to cosmetic treatment, as she had to give up commitments that required her to appear in public.
