Naples, robbery of a tobacconist in Riviera di Chiaia: arrested
On Monday afternoon, a person showed up at the San Ferdinando Police Station to report that, shortly before, in his business on Via Riviera di Chiaia, a man armed with a knife and wearing a helmet and mask had stolen 1000 euros.
The police, with the support of personnel from the local Scientific Police Department and thanks to the descriptions provided by the owner and the images from the premises' video surveillance system, were able to identify the alleged robber who, yesterday morning, was intercepted in Corso Malta riding a motorbike and, at the sight of the officers, attempted to flee despite having been ordered to stop.
The man was caught and blocked and found in possession of the same helmet and pouch worn during the robbery.
Raffaele Imperatore Vettolieri, a 35-year-old Neapolitan with a police record, was subjected to PG arrest for multi-aggravated robbery which yesterday was validated by the Judicial Authority which ordered the suspect to be placed in precautionary custody in prison.
