Three tons of hazardous and non-hazardous waste were seized by the Coast Guard in the port of Naples.
The material, consisting of paints and solvents, was contained in numerous drums in poor condition, some of which had an advanced state of corrosion that would, in the short term, lead to the dispersion of the contents. The waste was illegally deposited in a state-owned area, in the spaces behind some structures under concession to a company.
The waste was characterized so that it could then be correctly sent for disposal, carried out in the early afternoon by authorized companies.
The investigations carried out by the investigators of the Port Authority were immediate in order to identify the perpetrators of the crime, who have already been reported to the competent judicial authority.
