Castellammare di Stabia. The first-degree conviction of entrepreneur Adolfo Greco, investigated in the context of the "Olimpo" investigation, risks having important political repercussions on the city of Castellammare di Stabia and on the municipality currently still under the magnifying glass of the Access Commission that will conclude its work in the coming weeks. Because Greco was a very influential entrepreneur in the political life of the city. This is what the opposition claims, whose reaction to the eight years and six months of imprisonment for Greco was not long in coming.
According to Michele Starace, "the fallout of this conviction on political life in Stabia seems inevitable", according to whom Adolfo Greco was "very present and active especially in political life in Stabia, so much so that he was the most influential in forming the coalition that led to the victory of the center-right in 2018". Hence the reference to the reconstruction of the ministry inspectors: "I still hope that the access commission will leave with nothing done, but the more time passes, the more the outcome appears evidently opposite.
Greco's influence on the appointment of councilors and consultants has been too incisive. Even today, some who sit on the city council owe it to him. But the time has come to say enough! Politics must regain its autonomy and freedom by putting the fight against organized crime in all its forms at the center of its government agenda. We need to build a healthy ruling class that knows how to distance itself from certain environments" concludes Michele Starace.

For Andrea Di Martino, leader of Stabia L@B: «The 8-year sentence for Adolfo Greco has an inevitable political fallout. On the political level, we are faced with a strong indictment of those parties that have not been able to preserve autonomy and authority. It is not a lack of discussion, which is inevitable in politics, but a lack of autonomy. Too many have allowed their times and choices to be dictated to them by those who today have more than one suspicion, on their shoulders, of having had relations with the clans. Being an alternative to the Camorra powers must be the priority in the reconstruction process with which we will have to treat Castellammare, after the political-judicial earthquake that is going through it», concludes Di Martino.
According to Tonino Scala, however, "a disturbing picture emerges, to say the least, given the clans' ability to penetrate all decision-making mechanisms". Hence the thesis put forward by Scala: "The Camorra is inside everything: we are not a city of Camorra in the classic sense, but we live in a city in which the Camorra has truly made a "species leap" in choices and relationships. Eight years and six months of imprisonment plus a fine of 8 thousand euros. This is the sentence imposed by the judges of the first criminal section, president Fernanda Iannone, of the court of Torre Annunziata against Adolfo Greco. In his closing speech, the prosecutor of the Dda of Naples Giuseppe Cimmarotta had asked for 12 years of prison against Adolfo Greco.
Among the other defendants who chose the ordinary trial are Michele Carolei, who received 6 years and 3 months, Raffaele Carolei, who received 6 years and 2 months, 6 years and 6 months for Umberto Cuomo and 9 years and 6 months for Luigi Di Martino, alias 'o Profeta for extortion against Adolfo Greco and also for being the instigator of the bomb that exploded in front of the entrance to the supermarket of the “Sole 365” chain in Castellammare di Stabia in 2015.
