Last weekend, the officers of the Sorrento Police Station, with the support of the Campania Crime Prevention Department and the Canine Units of the General Prevention Office, carried out an extraordinary service of territorial control in the municipality of Sorrento, particularly in the “movida” areas.
During the activity, 322 people were identified, 114 vehicles and 3 commercial establishments were checked. The operators, while passing near the Circumvesuviana of Sorrento, noticed a man who was forcing the access door to the platform reserved for disabled people and who, at the sight of them, hastily moved away despite having been ordered to stop.
The police caught up with him and, when asked to provide his personal details, the man went berserk and began to swear at them, putting up a strong resistance but, not without difficulty and after a brief struggle, he was stopped.
Joseph Vitale, 30 years old from Massa di Somma with a police record, he was arrested for resisting a public official, failure to comply with the provisions of the Authority, attempted fraud against the State, refusal to provide personal details and personal injury.
Finally, thanks to the support of the Anti-Drug Canine Units, the officers found on the street, near the city centre and hidden in a flowerbed, a package containing approximately 2 grams of cocaine which was seized.
