Massimo, a young provincial priest, since childhood shows an emotional profile of marked sensitivity to transcendence, open to the mystical dimension of life. In moments of doubt and uncertainty, the man turns to his Masters, metaphysical entities that help him revisit his idea of the Church, far from any form of hypocrisy.
For this reason, the man finds himself being investigated by a commission of cardinals who accuse him of having sinned, but he defends himself against the tribal ideas that the Church affirms. Among all of them, one figure in particular will prove to be singular and decisive for the unfolding of events: the Exorcist, Cardinal Gabriele, who, just like the protagonist, possesses overdeveloped empathic and sensorial faculties.
A charming man, poet, painter, musician, martial arts practitioner, Massimo is a magnet for many, and a charmer for women, bewitched by his boundless knowledge and the energy he releases. Some women, in particular, will act as a mirror of Massimo's human frailties: Mary, an old acquaintance, Simona, the girl with the third eye, and his muse, the one for whom he would have challenged anyone, Dante's Beatrice, who goes by the name of Sofia.
Through the story of the protagonist ‒ between a Dantean dream and an internal conflict à la Petrarca ‒ Saverio Ferrara tells his idea of Love, stigmatizing the dynamics of a society often obsequious to appearance and form.
