Infections in prisons. A note from the Union of Penitentiary Police Unions comments on the covid-19 cluster in the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, which currently has over 60 infected people.
“We find it absolutely absurd that mandatory vaccination has not been established for prisoners, just as it also appears absurd that lawyers and relatives of prisoners who go to prison for interviews are exempted from the 'green pass'”. Thus, in a note, Giuseppe Moretti and Ciro Auricchio, president and regional secretary of the Campania Union of Penitentiary Police Unions, comment on the covid-19 cluster in the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, which currently has over 60 infected people.
“We are in the midst of the 'fourth wave' and, – the two trade unionists continue – in the absence of these two simple measures, there is a risk that similar situations may occur in other penitentiary facilities where overcrowding combined with a lack of staff are elements that worsen a situation that has been festering for some time. This is why we are asking for urgent intervention from the minister to ensure that the situation worsens”.
